The Confluence Land Trust will take an innovative approach to resisting economic and social decline with a focus on building the capacity of individuals at the neighborhood level. As a St. Louis-based 501(c)(3), the primary goal of the Land Trust is to breathe new life into tax delinquent, abandoned, or donated properties by reclaiming them as valuable community assets that can be of private, commercial or collective use. We will accomplish this goal through strategically-located Neighborhood Resource Centers for skills training that will also function as points of community engagement.
As a St. Louis-based 501(c)(3), the primary goal of the Confluence Land Trust is to effectively breathe new life into tax delinquent, abandoned, or donated properties by reclaiming them as valuable community assets that can be of private, commercial or collective use. We will accomplish this goal through strategically-located Neighborhood Resource Centers for skills training that will also function as points of community engagement. The team is deeply committed to a community-driven process, which they hold to be central to the success of asset-based community development and neighborhood revitilization. To this end, the project will focus on fostering relationships within the neighborhood as well as partnerships with mission-aligned organizations. In order to be financially sustainable, the Confluence Land Trust plans to resell or rent out rehabbed properties eligible to graduates of training programs, at below-market rates and through sweat equity.
